Local newspapers are:

For more than 150 years, local newspapers across Scotland have been the first port of call for local communities keen to keep up with news, events, opinion and gossip.

In a world in which all things digital seem to be capturing everyone's imagination, the local paper still delivers on its promises. That's partly because the printed medium reaches so many more people in a community than internet-based news services.

That said, the companies which publish Scotland's weekly press are investing heavily in their digital titles, too. Until digital can deliver the reach enjoyed by hard copy, however, both platforms will be needed.
